Jago Museum Tickets
Museum Details
With your ticket to the Jago Museum, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the historic church of Sant’Aspreno ai Crociferi, a church built in 1633 and dedicated to the first bishop of Naples.
After about 40 years of neglect, this religious complex in the Rione Sanità neighborhood has reopened its doors, transformed into an impressive contemporary art space. A true symbol of the urban and cultural regeneration this part of the city is undergoing!
Inside, you can admire some of the most famous works by the sculptor Jago (Jacopo Cardillo). Among them is the spectacular Pietà, a life-size sculpture created right here in 2021, which offers a moving and contemporary reinterpretation of grief and contemplation.
In addition, during your visit you’ll see the sculpture group of Ajax and Cassandra, which further enriches this fascinating collection.
Before leaving the building, we recommend taking a closer look at the rich stucco decoration on the façade and its unique lava-stone staircase. Did you know it was designed to elevate the church and protect it?
A complete tour of the Jago Museum takes between 30-minutes and 1 hour.
The Veiled Son at The Basilica of San Severo Fuori le Mura
As if that weren’t enough, this ticket also includes admission to the nearby Basilica of San Severo fuori le Mura. There, you can step inside the Chapel of the Whites to marvel at the breathtaking sculpture Figlio Velato (The Veiled Son), another of the artist’s great sculptural masterpieces that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
